Humans Predisposed to Believe in God.

A study on the disciplines of anthropology, psychology, and philosophy from  57 academics in 20 countries around the world suggests that thought processes are “rooted” to religious concepts.

The £1.9 million project at Oxford University found that children below the age of five found it easier to believe in some “superhuman” properties than to understand human limitations. The children were asked whether their mother would know the contents of a closed box. Three-year-olds believed that their mother and God would always know the contents, but by the age of four, children start to understand that their mothers were not omniscient. Other separate research from China suggested that people across different cultures instinctively believed that some part of their mind, soul or spirit lived on after death. According to Professor Roger Trigg, co-director of the project they “have gathered a body of evidence that suggests that religion is a common fact of human nature across different societies.”

“This suggests that attempts to suppress religion are likely to be short-lived as human thought seems to be rooted to religious concepts, such as the existence of supernatural agents or gods, and the possibility of an afterlife or pre-life.”

  1. LOL…GIve me the money……I could have told you that! Or give me a dime for every, “Oh there just HAS to be someone out there.” or “There just HAS to be more than this.” I hear all the time…..Man’s puny thinking comes up with a huge “God”. Insecurity breads something to feel secure in. The incomprehensible fosters that which is comprehensible. You have a question?….here’s the answer. Human thinking is SO predictable…..What really gets sad is when it boils down to…”Oh if there ever comes a time when I find there is no “God”….I will kill myself…..yeah…heard that one too. Humans…..pitiful humans…….and their human nature. My simple suggestion…”Get a life!”

  2. James…really?…The only naivety going on is one’s blind acceptance of a myth……I created the “Miracle Story” concept one sees on the 700Club…I traveled the world telling wonderful stories about how “God” touched or changed people’s lives….Did hundreds of them. Yepers…extolling the mighty things he did……I find it all BS now…..sorry…been there …done that……repenting for the deception…..Soooo….not so naive as you might think……You want more “thoughts”?…I have a LOT more to say……..Want to talk about what happened in Charleston for starters? Now THERE’s a real winner for “God” being “Almighty”……..sigh…….And then to hear the woman who identified the shooter so the police could catch him say that the lord did it through “Divine intervention”…OMG…LOL….guess divine intervention is only good for catching the bad guy and not for pointing him out before he blew those people away while they were worshiping their “Almighty god”….THAT”s what I call a ho hum god…..Now c’mon…give me some spiritual platitude or excuse to explain it away….Spare me…have heard them all……In fact…have used them all myself. That’s why I quit with the Jesus and “God” thing…tired of making excuses for “God”. If he is soooo almighty…then why does lil ole you need to make up for his flubbing the dub?…..Just be honest……pls…….Get your head out of the clouds and BE HONEST….I finally did……get honest with myself and others.
